KONSEP TAUHID DALAM SEMESTA EMPIRIK
October 13, 2008 at 2:41 am | In Falsafah, Islam & Sciences | No CommentsKONSEP TAUHID DALAM SEMESTA EMPIRIK

Foreword
by Hasnain Walji
From the frying pan of the ‘Narrow-Minded, Dry, Holy Ones’ “tang nazari khoshk muqaddasan” into the fire of Hick’s Religious Pluralism
Some years ago, in Brampton Canada, my Muharram majālis provoked the question: Where will Mother Teresa go – Heaven or Hell? This was in reaction to my submission challenging the notion of religious pluralism, which seemed to have found favour amongst members of the congregation, who as a result of their intellectual discussions within academia, appeared to have concluded that ‘all roads lead to Rome’.
History and Human Evolution
July 23, 2008 at 8:25 am | In Falsafah, Hikmah, Islam & Sciences | 1 CommentHistory and Human Evolution
by
Murtada Mutahhari
Translated from Persian by Dr. ‘Ali’uddin Pasargadi
The subject of our discussion is the meaning of evolution in history, or in other words, man’s social evolution and progress. Men of science assume two types of evolution for man: one of which is biological evolution, about which you may have read in biology and know that man is considered as the most perfect animal and the last link in the natural evolution of animals. The meaning of biological evolution is clear: it is an evolution that the process of nature has produced without the intervention of man himself and without his asking for it. In this respect there is no difference between man and other animals; since every animal has reached a stage of evolution by a natural and coercive process. The same process has brought man to the stage that we call him a human being, and consider him a specific kind of species as distinct from other species.

Chapter 1
The Qur’an and the Nature of Life
Here we intend to carry out a Qur’anic study of the problem of life to find out the specific viewpoint of the Qur’an about life. In particular, we intend to study the view that the Qur’an takes of the relation between life and the supranatural world and Divine will.
The Noble Qur’an recurringly mentions life. In many of its verses, the coming to life of creatures, the different stages of life, the system involved in the creation of living creatures, the effects of life such as intelligence, consciousness, perception, hearing, sight, guidance, inspiration, instinct and the like are mentioned as the `signs’ indicative of Divine wisdom and design. Each of these constitutes an interesting subject in itself, but here we do not intend to discuss them.
